Roseville Area High School is hoping to upgrade its current weight room equipment. While RAHS received some amazing upgrades after the passing of the most recent bond, it did not include any indoor PE and Athletics spaces.
The equipment in the weight room, including all machines and flooring, was originally installed in 1996. Bars are bending, equipment is rusting and falling apart, the flooring is no longer absorbent, making lifting tougher on students’ joints, and our cardio equipment is beyond repair. Other than new padding on the benches and one machine replacement, the equipment has not been upgraded in nearly 27 years.
Since the opening of the weight room in the mid 90’s, it has seen steady use morning, noon, and night.
6:30-7:30am – Approximately 50 students are registered to lift in the mornings, Mon-Fri.
8:10am – 2:40pm – The weight room serves PE classes all day. Approximately 35 – 40 students per PE class.
3:00 – 4:00 – Approximately 30 students are registered to lift after school, Mon-Fri.
4:00 – 6:00 – Roseville Athletics programs (36 in total) utilize the weight room for sport specific
training and lifting purposes.
On average, through both PE and Athletics, 275 students access the weight room DAILY.
So much has changed in the last 27 years. It’s time we provide our students with equipment that is not only safe but also appropriate for the type of lifting and training required of athletes in the 2020’s
